TGIF Sketch Challenge | #TGIFC72

On a very fall day I decided I wanted a touch of spring and stumbled upon the TGIF Challenge for this week. It’s a sketch challenge, which left the options pretty wide open – just perfect for creating a spring inspired card.

I have been cleaning out my office and have been trying to use up paper I’ve had for awhile. The pink card base I chose is embellished to have a canvas texture, and I layered on a piece of retired Stampin’ Up! designer series paper in shades of blue and pink. A strip of white added a bit of calm in a sea of pattern, and I decided to add on some woodgrain embossed pale blue squares. By themselves the squares seemed lacking, so I used the flowers and leaves from the Stampin’ Up! Jar of Love stamp set to add some dimension and interest. Finally, I added a phrase from the Stampin’ Up! Love and Affection stamp set, inked it with versamark ink and added silver emboss powder. The phrase has a nice metallic sheen, which helps it to stand out on the patterned paper. Check out the finished product:

  1. I think I still have some of this retired DSP too 🙂 I love the use of the woodgrain embossed squares to break the pattern up and the cute little Jar Of Love flowers on top! 🙂 Hope to see you playing along again at TGIF!
