#TGIFC81 Sketch Challenge Featuring Winter Wonderland
This week’s TGIF Challenge (#TGIFC81) is all about being inspired by the sketch. The layout for the sketch is below:
I was feeling a little Christmas inspired when I sat down to create something for this challenge. It snowed a bit last night, and there’s only five more Mondays until Christmas! For this challenge, I also wanted to create something a little different that combined metallics, dark colours and watercolour techniques. Combining these elements I envisioned a night time scene! Stars and moonlight make snow glisten and I love it!
The white background of the card is a card base. I layered a piece of navy card stock on top to bring in more of that night time feel. Technique Tip: I embossed the navy card stock before attaching it – much easier, and it keeps the card base from bending or warping.
I don’t typically use a lot of gold, but I felt like doing something different, so I used embossing powder to embellish the navy layer in the background. Gold played nicely on navy, and I added a bit to the white in the bicycle basket (not very telling from the photo). The gold pattern on navy it sort of reminded me of a piece of gift wrap!
The top layer is where I created a scene and decided to feature a Christmas tree pick up with a tandem bicycle! I like the cutesy meets a touch of subtle romance. A little washi tape to add some more color and voila! Christmas comes to town in a winter wonderland. Check out my winter wonderland creation below:
Combine Stamp Sets for Extra Winter Wonderland Awesomeness
The bicycle image is from last year’s sale-a-bration stamp set, called Pedal Pusher. The other images are stamps from the Glamper Greetings stamp set, which is from the 2017 Stampin’ Up! holiday catalogue. I think the two sets worked together really nicely! The washi tape from the peaceful pines suite added an extra touch of Christmas charm. Most of the colour in this card is applied with a blender pen and a marker to create a watercolored image or a solid coloured image.
How were you inspired by this week’s sketch challenge? I’d love to hear about what you created.
If you liked the bicycle stamp, you’re going to love what comes out in this year’s sale-a-bration and occasions catalogues. Stay tuned for more info about the upcoming catalogues and the new sets!
